The Yeescope is a single-use laryngoscope for anaesthesia and resuscitation.

The standard laryngoscope has changed little since it was designed over 60 years ago by Professor Macintosh.

The potential risks of cross infection with reusable instruments have increased recently because of emerging micro-organisms including multiresistant bacteria, HIV, hepatitis and SARS viruses, and prion diseases.

More stringent health regulations world-wide requiring sterilisation of blades have led to early deterioration of current laryngoscopes. Newly available single-use blades do not totally address the problems associated with contaminated handles.
