Fisher & Paykel is one of the largest manufacturers of white goods world wide. Fisher & Pykel approached Lu Papi & Associates for help in simplifying part of a washing machine.

The plastic tube shown replaces 7 separate components and reduces the cost, assembly time and maintenance associated with the previous design.

The plastic tube is unique because it is moulded without internal cores and creates a shape that was previously not possible with injection moulding.

The tube was the first product to use gas injection to blow out the molten plastic during the cooling process leaving a hollow part.
